Course details

Economic and Financial analyses are essentially used to determine the costs incurred and the resulting benefits from investing in a project

Economic and Financial Analysis of Renewable Energy is a course that will work through analysis of different renewable technologies including LCOE, pricing for renewable energy projects, resource analysis and financing.

Economic Analysis, Financing & Modelling for Renewable Energy training course will be hands-on where participants take turns sharing the screen and demonstrate how you can construct renewable analysis and evaluate materials that incorporate a variety of economic and financing issues.

The course put emphasis on practical techniques with current data and covers batteries as well as corporate PPA’s. The outline below is separated into five different on-line sessions.

Course outline

Day 1

Overview of Project Finance Terms and Value Drivers in Renewable Energy

  • Exploring key project finance terms in renewable energy financial models.
  • Discussing primary drivers of value in renewable projects (e.g, technology cost, performance, etc)
  • Reviewing the capital intensity of alternative renewable technologies and their levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).
  • Identifying the influence of storage integration on achieving grid parity.
  • Examining financial model structures for evaluating parity with and without storage.
  • Exercise: Compute grid parity scenarios using sample data, comparing solar PV projects with and without battery storage.
